Corwen
WNL
0-2
This evenings match which was the last fixture of the 2007/08 season saw Rhos visit Corwen knowing they needed a point to secure the runners up spot in the league,  also Corwen knew that a victory would also give them the opportunity to clinch the runners up spot themselves if they also pick up maximum points from their remaining three matches.  The recent availability of players for midweek matches was again evident with Rhos forced into a number of changes most notably the central defensive partnership of Tomas Davies and Rob Salisbury.
Corwen began the match at a blistering pace and pinned what looked a tired Rhos line-up into defending really deep, but found Kevin Andrews in fine form as he made two excellent saves early on the keep the scores level.  Andrews was finally beaten in the 20th minute when the home striker broke clear only to again force Andrews initially into a save then defender Phil Dodd blocked the rebound for it to fall nicely for the striker who eventually slotted it home.  Rhos looking shell shocked then conceded another 4minutes later when Corwen broke the offside trap for the striker to finish giving Andrews no chance.  This second goal seemed to spur Rhos into life who spent the remainder of the half camped in the Corwen half and were on 3 separate occasions denied what looked to many as certain penalties.  HT 2-0 (Corwen)
The second half started with Rhos desperate to get back into the match but in truth it never really looked on the cards.  With caution being thrown to the wind Corwen on a number of occasions broke with pace and were it not being for Andrews in the Rhos goal would have extended their lead.  Rhos were then denied another penalty appeal which looked to most clear cut of the lot with Matty Holmes being brought down in the area, but it was not to be as Corwen stood firm.
In summary a frustrating evening for all connected with the club, but so many positives can be taken from the season with the team developing at an alarming rate.  From a managerial point of view our many successful performances since the turn of the year is 'only the tip of the iceberg'.  With continuous improvement being sought.  We will be looking  to retain our current squad and with a few quality additions will be looking to start next season with a bang.  Finally from all the players, committee and managerial staff I would like to thank everyone who has supported the team throughout the past season, we have built up quite a possy and your support is very much appreciated.
10th May
Mold Alexandra
WNL
5-1
Todays match which was played in what could only be described as mediterranean weather conditions with the sun saw Rhos come up against long time league leaders Mold Alexandra who only needed a point from todays match to secure runners up spot in the league and ultimately promotion the the next tier of Welsh football the Cymru Alliance. Also victory for the inform Rhos team would have given them the chance of clinching the runners up spot themselves with one match remaining next Tuesday against Corwen.
Rhos got off to an excellent start when the ever excellent Ion Azpeitia capitalised on a defensive mix up to slot home from an acute angle with less than a minute on the clock.  Mold then knowing they had to score at least once to secure that inportant runners up spot come up against two defensive rocks in the form of Tomas Davies and Rob Salisbury.  HT 1-0
The second half started in a similar fashion to the first with Rhos doubling their lead within a minute of the restart with Azpeitia again scoring with an excellent volley from the edge of the area.  Rhos then looked comfortable in the match and seemed to be well in control of the contest when the home side broke away to reduce the defecit when the home striker scored from close range after some good work from the wide man from the left. The home side then desparately in search of a possible promotion winning leveller were caught almost immediatly with a sucker punch when central midfielder Tony Cann found himself unmarked in the six yard box to nod home what seemed to be a killer goal.  Rhos from then on took complete control of the match with further goals beeing added by Uni Moyua and youngster Jamie Rogers who scored what could only be described as a world class finish into the top corner of the home net.
Again in summary an excellent performance against another of the so called big boys in the league.  Now on to Corwen on Tuesday evening with the opportunity of clinching the runners up spot in the table.
A special mention to the Spanish 'lads' who made their last appearance for the club today due to educational commitments in the week.  Ion, Uni & Jose have been nothing short of exceptional this season and have been a pleasure to work with throughout.  These lads will undoubtibly be missed but hopefully will always remember the season they have had in Wales with Rhos Aelwyd.
8th May
Acrefair
WNL
13-0
Tonights match saw Rhos play a re-scheduled fixture against lowly Acrefair in the final home match of the 2007/08 season and what a spectacle it was with Rhos romping to their biggest victory of the season,  the Acrefair outfit must be glad to see the back of Rhos this season who have notched 31 goals in total against them this season in 3 outings and took the league goals tally for the season rocketing past the 100 mark.  Rhos started the match and forced the visiting keeper into a number of excellent saves before taking the lead on the 15minute mark through Geraint Williams who converted at the far post.  Rhos then doubled their lead with a long range effort from skipper Steffan Davies which caught the visiting keeper flat footed in what was Rhos's 100th leagu goal of the season.  Rhos then went through a spell when they went through the visiting defence at will and added a further three goals before the interval with top scorer Matty Holmes completing a quick fire hat-trick. HT 5-0
The second half started in similar fashion with Holmes scoring his fourth and fifth goals of the evening in the first 3minutes of the second half.  With Rhos really comfortable and keeping the relentless pressure on the visitors goal everyone looked to get in on the act with Nefyn Davies racing clear to finish with what was the goal of the evening.  Spaniard Uni Moyua then got in on the act before defender Aled Dodd scored what was the home sides tenth goal of the season.  Substitute Darren Greenway then burst into the act with an excellently taken hat-trick to complete the scoring in the closing minutes.
An excellent way to end the home campaign with the home supporters treated to a real goal feast and also a goal from the only non scorer of the season so far in Aled Dodd which brought the biggest cheer of the evening.
Now with 2 difficult away matches of the season remaining the squad need to continue in this form to cement the runners up spot they undoubtibly deserve.
1st May
Hawarden Rangers
WNL
2-1
Tonights penultimate home match of the season saw Rhos take on Hawrden Rangers with a point to prove against the side who inflicted the biggest defeat of the season earlier in the season.
Rhos started the match and looked extremly off the pace and memories of the way Hawarden took the Aelwyd apart pre christmas looked as if it was still playing on the players minds as they seemed to lack a bit of belief.  Hawarden could and probably should have taken the lead on two seperate occasions when the striker caught the Rhos defence napping on both occasions only to be wasteful in his finishing.  HT 0-0
The second half started with the Rhos side being told in no uncertain terms that a repeat performance in the second half would not be acceptable and started to put a bit of pressure on the Hawarden goal.  Rhos then decided to introduce player manager Steve Walters into the proceedings to up the tempo even more and that move paid off immediatly with Rob Salisbury scoring the opening goal of the evening when volleying home from close range.  Rhos then seemed to have the belief in winning the match and doubled their advantage on the hour mark when Matty Holmes capitalised on a defensive mix-up to slot the ball home.  With the two goal advantage looking comfortable Rhos yet again seemed to press the self destruct button with 10minutes left and allowed the visiting striker to walk the ball home after a terrible defensive mix-up.  With Hawarden really believing they had Rhos on the ropes looked in search of what would have been a deserved equaliser but were thwarted by keeper Andrews with 3minutes remaining with an excellent double save.  The Rhos defense then stood firm for the short time remaining and held on for an important victory.
In summary not a good performance with the team looking very tired after a mamouth few days playing lots of games, but still got back to winning ways and now take a deserved seven day break before our final home match of the season next Thursday evening against Acrefair.
29th Apr
Overton
WNL
5-5
Yet another midweek match, and again it took it's toll on player selection. Overton started the game with high tempo and could have taken the lead as early as the 1st minute, however, they broke the Aelwyd defence to open the scoring after 5 minutes. Tony Cann had a good chance to equaliser but a good stop by the keeper prevented this. Tony made up for his earlier miss with a superb strike to level the score. A defensive error let Overton in to score their second, yet again Rhos equalised through the lethal Mike Williams. The game swung back and to, Overton Took the lead again before Matty Holmes equalised. Late Into the second Rhos went 5-3 up with goals from Matty Homles and an own goal that manager Steve Walters is attempting to claim..
The game should have been sewn up after this but Overton kept pumping the long ball to the wings. With 5 minutes to go Overton scored from a scramble in the goalmouth which also saw Keeper Kevin Andrews injured. Their fifth goal came in the dying seconds when the Overton forward had a free header 4 yards out. A disappointing result after being two goals ahead, but still a great effort from the team.
26th Apr
Brymbo
WNL
3-1
Todays match saw Rhos come up against champions elect Brymbo who prior to todays match had only lost once and boast an excellent defensive record leaking only 11 goals all season.
The match started and was high tempo from the 1st minute with blood and thunder tackles flying in from both sets of players.  Rhos soon managed to take a grip of the game and took the lead on the 10minute mark when Matty Holmes found space in the area to fire home.  Rhos almost instantly doubled their lead when Holmes struck the crossbar, but Holmes was not to be denied 5minutes later when he converted from close range after Tony Cann had again rattled the visitors crossbar.  Brymbo looking shell shocked then had no choice but to commit player in search of getting back into the game and were awarder a dubious penalty decision on the half hour mark which was slotted away giving Andrews in the Rhos goal no chance.  HT 2-1
The second half started with Brymbo again commiting players forward in search of a levelling goal but were undone as early as the second minute of the second period when Matty Holmes raced clear to complete his hat-trick.  Brymbo then looked a beaten team and seemed for a short period to lose a little discipline with a number of x-rated tackles being added to the equation.  Brymbo then throwing caution to the wind were unable to get past the Rhos backline who put in what can only be described as a master class performance and could have extended their lead on the break but for two world class saves from the visiting keeper.
The final whistle went in what was an excellent entertaining match between what are currently the 2 in form teams in the division.  If only the Aelwyd shown this kind of form in the early part of the season then no doubt the visiting Brymbo side would not be in such a good position to clinch their second succesive leage title.
24th Apr
Borras Park
WNL
4-3
With tonights match being our second midweek match this week player availability proved to be a big problem with wholesale changes to the starting line up, and with all the clubs recognised goalkeepers unavailable through one reason or the other saw regular reserve team centre half Richie Jones don the gloves.
The match started with the Rhos team struggling to get a grip the ball and saw a young looking energetic Borras side take the lead in the 15th minute from a well taken free kick which wrong footed Jones in the Rhos goal.  Rhos then drew level with their first flowing move of the match which saw player/manager Steve Walters pick out an excellent run from Nefyn Davies who converted from close range with his head.  Almost immediatly Borras regained the lead when the home striker beat Jones to the ball on the edge of the area to slot into an empty net.  HT 2-1 (Borras)
Rhos started the second half with strict instructions that a similar sub standard performance like the first half both individually and collectivly would not be accepted and managed to draw level again through a far post header from Darren Greenway (60mijns) and then took the lead for the first time in the match through Tony Cann who finished from a tight angle.  With Rhos now in front many thought their experience would see out the match and maybe add another couple of goals but that was not to be as it was Borras who grabbed  the next goal what looked like sharing the points with 5 minutes remaining.  But the spirit that has been installed into the current Rhos squad was again not to be outdone with Matty Holmes taking full advantage of a defensive mix-up in the last minute to slot home what proved to be the winning goal.
In summary nothing short of an outstanding result that was achieved with a much changed lineup but even though there was a change in personel the all important team spirit was still their and proved  to be the difference.
22nd Apr
Coedpoeth United
WNL
4-1
This evenings match saw a much changed Rhos side due to work commitments come up against mid tabled Coedpoeth United.
The match started and was rather sloppy from both teams which has come to be a bit of the norm when it comes to midweek matches with lost of players having to play after a hard days work.  Rhos took the lead in the 20th minute after an ecellent move down the right flank ended with fullback Dyfan Williams delivering a pin point cross to Tony Cann to nod into an empty net at the far post.  Rhos quickly doubled their lead when top scorer Matty Holmes found space in the box to convert excellently. HT 2-0
Rhos come out for the second half with strict instructions from manager Walters to up the tempo and really take the game to the visitors and they managed to add another two goals to their tally with a second half double from Matty Holmes saw him complete yet another hat-trick.  Rhos could and probably should have added further goal to their tally but the Coedpoeth defence managed to stand firm to keep the score down.  The visitors managed to reduce the arrears in injury time when they converted a penalty to rob Rhos of what would have been a rare clean sheet.
In summary another win which extends our unbeaten league run to eleven matches now.  Any victory in midweek is good especially with the depth of the squad being stretched to the limit at present.
19th Apr
Penycae
WNL
1-1
Rhos come up against local rivals Penycae today who had been on a terrible run of results recenlty, but those who know the history of these matches knew just how close and tense it would be, as with football at any level the form book goes out the window with local derby's and todays contest was no different.
The match started with both teams struggling to stamp any sort of authority.  Rhos were the first to get their passing game together but failed to create any real goalscoring opportunities with the Penycae defence proving very difficult to break down.  Penycae then took the lead on the half hour mark with a wonder strike out of nothing from Steven Brooks which left keeper Andrews with no chance whatsoever.  Penycae come close to doubling their lead just before with Andrews making an excellent save (pictured)clawing the ball away from the top corner from a Penycae free kick.  HT 0-1(Penycae)
The second half started with Rhos looking to take the game to the home team with high tempo and quickly brought the scoring level when Ion Azpeitia converted after some excellent work on the edge of the area from Aled Dodd.  Rhos then went in search of the winner but failed to break through the stubborn defence.  Rhos could consider themselves unlucky on two separate occasions not to have been awarded a vital penalty but the referee waived both away and it was not to be.
In Summary this result felt like a defeat for Rhos which speaks volumes on how far we have come as a team as previously a point away to local rivals Penycae would be deemed an acceptable.
15th Apr
Chirk A.A.A.
WNL
2-1
Rhos found it hard to get going after Saturday's efforts, which is quite understandable, this was a heavy pitch.
This game wasn't a physical one, both Chirk and Rhos tried to play football, however it ended up with 7 bookings and a sending off.
The Referee was determined to "stamp" his authority on the game, but unfortunately the yellow cards he produced was unbelievable, not once did he talk to the players he just flashed his cards like a gunslinger for the least thing.
Rhos took the lead after 30mins when Dyfan Williams' strong tackle saw the ball rebound into the Chirk goal.
Chirk were awarded a penalty after 15 mins of the second half, (don't know what for) which was converted.
After the sending off of Nefyn Davies, which we can have no complaints about, Rhos got the bit between their teeth and produced the football they are capable of playing. Following excellent wing play from Matty Holmes when he produced an inch perfect pass across the box for Geraint Williams to slot home, which turned out to be the winner.
I know Referee's are not there to be abused and shouted at, but the decisions tonight were totally frustrating to say the least, it will be interesting to read the referee's report.
One the whole if Referee's were more consistent, Players would know were they stand, one week you can talk to the Ref., even disagree, but next week the Ref will book someone for the same thing.
However, a great result which keeps the win's coming.
12th Apr
Corwen
WTF
4-2
Todays match which was billed by many as one of the most important in the history of Rhos Aelwyd saw the club contest the final of the F.A.W. Welsh Trophy against fellow Welsh National league rivals Corwen at NEWi Cefn Druids Plaskynaston Lane Ground.  With a big crowd in attendance and a formal meeting with the F.A.W. hierachy prior to kick off it was key the management ensured the players stayed focused on the task in hand.
Rhos started the game and looked slightly nervous with both teams struggling to string a number of passes together but took the lead as early as the 4th minute when Tony Cann raced away on the right wing to feed top scorer Matty Holmes who caught the Corwen keeper out with a early snap shot into the bottom corner.  Rhos then doubled their lead as early as the 12th minute when Cann himself converted from 12 yards out.  The remainder of the half was a rather scrappy affair with Rhos commanding a two goal advantage but still not showing the free flowing passing game that they have shown recently, keeper Kevin Andrews did come to Rhos's rescue with an excellent save when the Corwen striker sprung the offside trap to find himself clear through just before the interval.  HT 2-0
The second half started with Corwen desperate to get back into the match but found a solid looking Rhos backline difficult to get past and limited them to strikes from long range which when on target was dealt with impressivtely by Andrews.  Rhos then extended their lead on the hour mark with central defender Rob Salisbury rising high to place a firm header in the Corwen net.  With Corwen really throwing caution to the wind they managed to reduce the defecit from a diving header with 20minutes to go.  Rhos virtually immediatly went up the other end and restored their three goal advantage when Geraint Williams converted at the far post after some impressive wing play from tricky Jose Alkatra.  The final 10minutes of the match saw Rhos somewhat unusually seem to press the self destruct button and gave away a soft penalty which the opposing striker slotted home to create a slightly nervous last period, but Corwen though having a lot of the ball in this period were unable to create a clear cut opportunity and the final whistle blew which in turn brought ecstatic celebrations from all connected with the club.
* A extra selection of photos from today have been added to the pictures section also a CD with all photos taken on the day is available at a cost of £5 that will be donated to the club.
5th Apr
Llay Welfare
WNL
3-1
With next weeks Welsh Trophy final and Llay's NEWFA Semi Final also played next week, the possibility of a dull affair was a distinct possibility.  But both managerial camps obviously set their respective camps out with a strong message of how important the bread and butter of the league is even with the 'big' cup matches on the horizon.
The match started with Rhos ripping through the Llay defence at will and could have been out of sight within 10minutes had various players not been so wasteful in front of goal.  The breakthrough finally come through on 30mins when captain Steff Davies found himself in space at the far post to head against the upright and the confusion of the rebound saw the Llay defender turn the ball into his own net.  Rhos then increased their lead an minute before the interval when the excellent Ion Azpeitia beat the oncoming keeper to the ball to calmly slot into the empty net.  Llay were then reduced to 10 men when a defender was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Azpeitia who they were obviously struggling to cope with due to his excellent technical ability.  HT 2-0
Rhos started the second half against the 10 men of Llay looking to put a true reflection on the scoreline but it failed to matierialise with Azpeitia adding another goal to put the result beyond doubt.  With the Aelwyd really comfortable in posession against the hard working Llay side they failed to add any further goals with the visiting keeper making a number of excellent saves.  Llay managed to pull a goal back with 20minutes remaining when the striker broke clear to finish with an outstanding long distance lob but failed to build up a head of steam to make a contest of the match in the remaining time.
In summary another good win against one of the more physical sides in the league.
2nd Apr
Cefn United
WNL
6-1
Tonight saw the first of many midweek matches to negotiate between now and the conclusion of the season, and saw the Aelwyd come up against local rivals Cefn United.  With midweek matches proving to be quite difficult obstacles in the past with player availability, this occasion was no different with Key players Kev Andrews, Rob Salisbury and Matty Holmes all unavailable on this occasion.
Rhos started the match on a really difficult surface and took the lead through the ever impressive Ion Azpeitia who broke down the right hand side to score with a great finish from an acute angle.  Rhos then doubled their lead through Tony Cann after being set up by Azpeitia.  Cann then scored Rhos's third goal of the half after a delightful cross into the Area from Dyfan Williams.  HT 3-0
Cefn started the second half with nothing to lose and pegged a goal back from a free kick and believed they were in with a shout of pegging Rhos, back but that was short lived with Cann completing his hat-trick to put the hree goal cushion back in Rhos's favour.  Rhos then introduced youngster Jamie Rodgers into the play with 20mins remaining and he was on target twice to complete the scoring on what was an excellent display from Rhos with every player involved coming from the match with a pat on the back from the management. Though a 6-1 scoreline is a great win away from home the fact of the matter is that it could easily on the night have been double figures with many chances missed including Cann striking the crossbar with a last minute penalty.

15th Mar
Berriew F.C.
WTSF
2-0
What was billed by many as one of Rhos Aelwyd's biggest matches in years brought both Rhos and Mid Wales outfit Berriew to Bala Town FC to contest the Semi Final of the F.A.W. Welsh Trophy.  The pitch at Bala was more like a swamp than a football pitch but the fact that the Bala groundsmen managed to get the game on after the recent rain we have experienced was a credit to them.
Rhos started the game and took an early lead with a fine goal from Jose Alkatra when he delivered a corner that was cleared by the Berriew keeper back to Jose who controlled the ball and drove it into the far top corner to send the Aelwyd fans crazy.  This early goal seemed to have an adverce effect on the Aelwyd performance in the remainder of the half with Berriew being on top for the remainder of the half. Rhos were also dealt a body blow with top scorer Matty Holmes being forced off with a hamstring injury and being replaced  by Gethin Williams who proved to be a more than able deputy.HT 1-0
The second half started in a similar manner to the first with Rhos unable to really get their recent good form and flowing football going.  With Berriew risking more players forward in desperate search of a leveling goal Rhos broke away and won a corner that was converted by the excellent Tony Cann (pictured) from a Steve Walters corner.  Berriew almost pulled a goal back instantly when they struck the upright, but Andrews in the Rhos goal was to keep his clean sheet and the Aelwyd defence stood firm to see out what is an excellent victory.
Now wih a Cup final to look forward to it proves that in football results are the name of the game as that is what counts in the end.

* Rhos will meet fellow W.N.L. Premier division outfit Corwen in the final on 12th April at NEWI Cefn Druids Plasyknaston ground witha 2.30pm K.O.

Corwen
WNL
3-2
Todays match saw two of the leagues in form teams meet head to head at a wind swept Ponciau banks.
The early encounters were very scrappy with both teams struggling to come to terms with the difficult conditions.  But midway through the first period Rhos put a spell of pressure on the Corwen goal which yielded two goals from the ever impressive Matty Holmes.  Corwen looked shell shocked and went chasing the game, and with the strong wind behind their backs pulled a goal back when broke through to score at the second attempt after an excellent initial save from stand in keeper Darren Reynolds.  Corwen then finished the half with lots of pressure on the Rhos goal but could not force the equaliser which they desperatly needed giving that they would be kicking against the wind in the second half.  HT 2-1
The majority of the second half was as expected played in the Corwen half with their defence struggling to clear the ball against the gale force winds, and Rhos extended their lead with a towering headed from Tomas Davies.  Corwen were then forced to literally throw caution to the wind and left spaces at the back with the Aelwyd team missing a number of one on ones to put the game well and truely to bed.  Corwen did manage to pull a goal back in the dying minutes to make the game look a lot closer than it actually was giving the chances Rhos had.
In summary another vital win for Rhos against one of the leagues better sides.
1st Mar
Castell Alun
WNL
3-0
This was a solid performance by Rhos who took the game to the home straight from the kick off.
The opening goal came from UNAI MOYUA LARRANASC when he stroked a superb volley into the top of the net.
UNAI scored his second goal following a top class through ball from Tony Cann who left the defence standing.
The strong wind took it's toll on the shooting and passing, Mike Williams went close when his shot rebounded off two posts.
Castell Alun continued to press the Aelwyd defence and forced  Kevin Andrews in goal to pull some excellent saves to keep them in the game.
2-0 H/T.
Rhos dominated the second half, but only managed to score one goal after numerous chances. The goal came from MATTY HOLMES when his shot rebounded via goalie and post to pounced to put the ball into the empty net.
Once again some excellent performances, but the defence must take credit with outstanding performances from Rob Salisbury, Dyfan Williams and Aled Dodd.
Another three points for Rhos which takes them into second place and a tough game to come next week against in form Corwen.

23rd Feb
Chirk AAA
WNL
4-2
Back to the bread and butter of the league after 2 weeks in cup quarter final action saw Rhos come up against a young Chirk side.  Rhos started the game and looked sloppy all over the park and found it difficult to stamp any authority whatsoever on the match on what was a very poor surface for passing.  Chirk took the lead on the half hour mark when they broke down the centre and passed the ball under the advancing Kevin Andrews.  Going behind seemed to slightly force Rhos into action and the tempo increased and with the first passing move of the match equalised on 40mins with a near post finish from Tony Cann. HT 1-1
After a few words of encouragement in the dressing room at half time Rhos looked to take the match to Chirk and took the lead on 55mins with skipper Rob Salisbury converting at the second attempt.  Rhos then looked as though they would go on to complete the victory with ease but were caught with a sucker punch with Chirk scoring from the penbalty spot after defender Dyfan Williams handled on the goal line, surprisingly the referee decided to just issue a yellow card for the offence.  Rhos then went in search of the winner and again took the lead through Matty Holmes (81mins)who nodded home after a scramble in the Chirk area.  Rhos then sealed the victory on 88mins with Tony Cann scoring his second of the afternoon after some neat work down the right by strike partner Holmes.
Overall getting 3 points is great and is always a good sign when you pick up a victory when putting in a very average performance.  Lots more left in the tank form every player involved in todays performance.
16th Feb
CPD Llanberis
WTQF
1-0
This was always going to be a tough game at Llanberis, and that's how it turned out. the first half was a battle with neither team getting the upper hand, chances were rare and neither goalie was troubled. H/T 0-0
The second half saw Rhos find their form and dominated Llanberis. Tony Cann hit the crossbar from a superb free kick, this seemed to up the momentum by Rhos and as they took the game to Llanberis, more chances were created which saw Rhos go close on occasions.
The gosl came from a mix up in the home defence when they failed to clear, GERAINT WILLIAMS cooly slotted the ball home from an acute angle to see Rhos take a deserved lead. A second half substitution saw Jose Alcatraz come on down the right, Jose was just the tonic Rhos needed, he kept the ball and passed with precision, an excellent display, had he played the whole match hr would have easily been man of the match, but that honour must go to Rob Salisbury who was the skipper of the day, and was outstanding at centre half.
Llanberis pushed everyone forward and went close when Rhos co manager Steve Walters cleared the ball off the line. With the home side pushing forward more chances were created, with Mike Williams unlucky not score when the ball hit the post. Rhos saw the game out to progress to the semi finals.
A good day out, with good support from the travelling fans, although some of the singing on the way back was a bit dodgy!

Bala Town
NEWQF
1-2
Having beaten the league leaders the previous week Bala started this game with the same form by pressing Rhos with some good football.
Rhos struggled for the first half hour, only some resolute defending kept the score to 1-0 down form a close range header by the Bala forward.
Rhos started to string some passes together in the last 15 of the half and from a free kick 25 yds out MIKE WILLIAMS scored with a perfect strike which gave their keeper no chance.
The second half was a battle with both sides giving their all, some excellent saves from stand in keeper, Ian Donaldson kept Bala out.
Unfortunately Rhos could not find their passing game on enough occasions, when they did they threatened the Bala goal. Rhos were denied a penalty by the Referee when a blatant handball was not given.
Rhos kept pushing for the equaliser and a fierce shot from Rob Salisbury fizzed just over the bar.
Bala were relieved to hear the final whistle, they knew they had been in a tough game!
Manager Steve Walters added after the result that 'despite the narrow defeat more positives than negatives can be taken out of this performance' With the current team spirit and quaility of play being particularly pleasing.
Opposition Manager Colin Caton also commented on the rapid progress this current Rhos side has made over the recent months.

2nd Feb
Brickfield Rangers
WNL
4-0
In poor conditions and a poor pitch, Rhos struggled to find the form they showed the previous week. Kicking up the slope against the wind, the ball in the air was not productive, when the ball was played on the ground Rhos showed some class, which led to the first goal when Ion Azpeitia was felled in the box for a penalty, TONY CANN produced a quality spot kick to make it 1-0. The rest of the half was a dour struggle and Rhos were glad to see half time.
The second half saw Rhos dominate, and went further ahead when Tony Cann put through MATTY HOLMES who finished well. The third come from a brilliant long throw from Kevin Andrews in goal when he found ION AZPEITIA deep in the Brickfield half and with the ball running down the slope Ion lobbed the advancing keeper with ease.
MATTY HOLMES grabbed a second after some good work all round. Rhos could have gone on to score more, the post, crossbar and some fine saves from the Brickfield keeper prevented this. A good second half performance by the team and another three points on the board taking them to second place in the League. We now look forward to next week when we play Bala in the NEWFA Cup, a match we should relish, being completely the underdogs.

Penycae
WNL
8-2
What an excellent performance from a Rhos side who is dramatically increasing in confidence and finally consistantly performing to the standarts expected of them from the management team.  The game must have been the most one sided affair in a Rhos vs Penycae match for years.
Rhos started the Match and opened the scoring on 5mins when the lightning quick Matty Holmes raced clear to slot passed the over exposed Penycae keeper.  Holmes then doubled the Aelwyd lead on 11mins after a defensive error allowed him through to grab a quick fire double.  Geraint Williams then extended the Rhos lead on 15mins to 3-0 with a strike through a group of players on the edge of the area.  Penycae then had to take chances to try to get back into the match and reduced the arrears with Steffan Davies scoring an own goal.  Penycae then had a little belief and had a ten minute spell which Rhos managed to not only weather but break away and increase their lead after a great move was finished by the excellent Ion Azpeitia.  Rhos then completed the first half scoring when Ian Andrews scored an unavoidable own goal when the ball was put into the box at pace from Mike Williams.  HT 5-1
Rhos started the second half expecting an onslaught from their local rivals but it never come and added further goals through Tony Cann, substitute Unai Moyua and Matty Holmes completed his hat-trick.  Jason Davies managed to pull a goal back for Penycae late on to add a little respectability to the final score.
This was undoubtibly a day Rhos will never forget and one Penycae will be eager to forget.  Now Rhos need not to rest on their laurels and build on this performance starting with Brickfield next week.

Mold Alexandra
WNL
2-0
Todays match saw top of the table Mold visit Rhos.  Rhos started the game and could have taken the lead early on with the Mold goalkeeper showing some excellent handling to keep Aelwyd at bay.  Mold then started to get a grip of the game and had plenty of possession of the ball but were limited to long range efforts with the excellent Thomas Davies organising the defensive unit with great authority.  Rhos almost took the lead five minutes before the interval after a long punt upfield put Matty Holmes through only to see his excellent effort bounce off the top of the bar and the referee adjudged him to have fouled the visiting keeper when trying to convert the rebound. HT 0-0.
The second half started with the Aelwyd really looking to take the game to the visitors and the deadlock was broke in the 47th minute with Matty Holmes scoring after been put through by a great ball from midfield from Mike Williams.  Rhos then extended their lead two minutes later with Geraint Williams finished off of excellent passage of play on the edge of the Mold area to give the Mold keeper no chance whatsoever.  With Mold now chasing the game Rhos defended excellently and on the rare occasions Mold did break through the impressive defence stand in keeper Huw Rowlands was their to keep the ball out with two excellent saves, one which was world class from a Mold strikers close range header.
Again another excellent result, nobody will fancy facing Rhos at the moment on this form.

Overton

3-3
(5-3p)
What a game!!!! Rhos took a three goal lead after 20mins with some excellent football, goals from MATTY HOLMES, NEFYN DAVIES & TOM SMITH, this should have seen Rhos gone on from there, but unfortunately Overton got their long ball over the top game which the Aelwyd defence couldn't seem to handle, Overton got the three goals back by half time after some spirited play. The second half saw Rhos settle down but couldn't create the killer touch they have shown recently. Centre Half Rob Salisbury was sent off 20 minutes into the half when the Ref deemed him to deny the Overton forward a goal scoring opportunity. With 13 minutes remaining an awful tackle on Aled Dodd saw him retaliate by kicking his opponent whilst he was on the ground, it left the Ref no option but to dismiss him, a disappointing reaction by Aled who will now miss three matches.
Rhos saw the half out with 9 men and go into extra time hoping they could either snatch a goal or take them on penalties. Rhos had to work in extra time like they have never worked before, this they did, it was nothing short of brilliance, Matty Holmes and Tom Smith up front chased everything, Steve Walters & Mike Williams in midfield were covering every blade of grass, the defence of Dyfan, Geraint, Nefyn and the superb Tony Cann (who Marshalled the line with some intelligent football that was far beyond his years) were awesome , when they did penetrate the defence they couldn't get past the excellent Kevin Andrews in goal, it was Kevin who kept us in the game with a top class save five minutes from the end.
All five penalties were converted by Rhos with Mike Williams pictured converting the winning fith, but it was Kevin Andrews who made the vital save for the Aelwyd to go through.
We look forward to the next round and a big draw, but we must tighten up on our discipline which could cost us dear with players missing vital matches through picking up silly bookings.
Finally great to see Tom Davies make his long awaited return to the starting line up after a long injury lay off, he will no doubt play a major part in the remainder of our season. Tom managed to complete an hour of the match before being replaced by Player/Manager Steve Walters.
22nd Dec
Castell Alun
WNL
7-2
Following last weeks game at Hawarden, Rhos were in a determined mood to get back the form they have showed recently.
This they did by playing some excellent football and scoring some of the best goals that would have graced any League.
Rhos took a 2-0 lead with goals from NEFYN DAVIES and GERAINT WILLIAMS before Castell Alun pulled one back.

The game was very enjoyable to watch as Castell Alun produced some quality football, however, a mad 15mins could have cost Rhos dear when they lost their discipline, which saw four bookings in that time. The Aelwyd settled down and ran out comfortable winners with further goals from TONY CANN (2), STEFFAN DAVIES (2) & GERAINT WILLIAMS.
An excellent performance from the team with quality performance from Tony Cann, Matty Holmes, Rob Salisbury and in particular Geraint Williams.
Overall a good way to sign off 2007, with another high scoring victory.
15th Dec
Hawarden Rangers
WNL
1-5
Disaster is the only way to discribe this match against a team who seemed to want to win the match more than the Aelwyd.
A freezing cold afternoon looked to be going Rhos way when Hawarden were awarded a penalty on 4minutes only for the play to be brought back to an earlier incident which saw the very aggressive Hawarden centre half dismissed for elbowing Tony Cann.  In short a let off and the warning signs should have been noticed.  The ten men of Hawarden then took the lead after a goalmouth scramble.  Rhos then equalised through Unai Moyua after Rhos's one and only passing sequence of the afternoon.  The match at that point looked like it would only have one winner with Hawarden looking demoralized.  Instead of feeling sorry for themselves Hawarden took the game to Rhos and Took the lead for the second time after being awarded a penalty that was not chalked off this time after a rash challenge in the box from Thomas Smith.  Hawarden then extended their lead on the strock of half time with an excellent volley from the edge of the area after the defence failed to clear a long punt upfield.  HT 1-3.
After strong words in the changing room at half time Rhos come out looking to get back into the match but the desire to get back was not as strong as Hawardens desire to extent their lead.  They made it 4-1 on the hour mark with a great lob on 60mins and completed the rout on 80mins through yet another penalty.  Three penalties given away (though 1 luckily chalked off) means any kind of result is going to be difficult to achieve.
A really bad day at the office and luckily we have a fixture next Sat to put things right before the Christmas break with next weeks home match against Castell Alun.
8th Dec
Llangollen Town
WNL
4-1
Rhos were able to take a good 3points from a game played in terrible weather conditions.  It took some time for the home side to get going but mid-way through the first half Ion Azpeitia was able to break the deadlock after a goalmouth scramble following a corner.  The lead was quickly doubled by Matty Holmes following some neat build up play. HT 2-0.

A bright start to the second half saw Rhos quickly extend their lead and eventually take the game away from Llangollen, with Matty completing yet another hat-trick.  Llangollen got a late consolation goal  for their efforts, but despite the conditions the home side attempted to play good quality football and had it not been for the goal mouth puddle and the worst refereeing decision ever seen on the Ponciau Nefyn Davies would have scored the goal of the season.

1st Dec
Acrefair Youth
NEW
7-2
Although having a couple of key players missing and Darren Greenway playing in goal, Rhos were always on top in this Game against a spirited Acrefair side. The first goal came after 2 mins when ION AZPEITIA blasted home from an acute angle. Ion went on to create two more goals for MATTY HOLMES. The game was in the bag by half time, but the second half was a bit of a let down, Rhos should have relaxed and played their passing game but too many passes were overhit and went astray. Further goals came from TONY CANN, ROB SALISBURY, OG and the superb MATTY HOLMES completing his hat-trick, Matty then came off to allow the young Steve Walters to get on up front to lead the line.
Once again excellent performances from Aled Dodd & Rob Salisbury in defence, Geraint Williams & Ion Azpietai in midfield and the impressive Tony Cann and Matty Holmes up front, for a twenty year old Tony has a footballing brain far beyond his years.
Not a vintage performance, but once again some excellent goals scored.

24th Nov
Prestigne St Andrews
WT3
3-1
Another good performance from this ever improving Aelwyd side.  After what seemed like a lifetime on the coach on the way down Rhos understandably started the game in slightly sluggish fashion but never really looked in danger of conceding agains the very physical front line of Prestigne.  Rhos should have took the lead on the half hour mark when the impressive Dyfan Williams went through one on one with the home goalkeeper only to fire his attempt into the side netting.  Right on the interval Rhos went clean through again with Matty Holmes being denied by an excellent save from the home custodian.  HT 0-0
Rhos started the second half in excellent fashion with dome excellent wing play from the ever impressive Ion Azpeitia who seemed to turn the home fullback inside out on a number of occasions and deliverying a quality ball almost every time.  Rhos took the lead on 56 minutes with Tony Cann (pictured) rising high from a Mike Williams corner to power a header home.  Rhos then were cutting through the home defence at will and doubled their lead on 65minutes with Matty Holmes converting a diving header after a great delivery from Azpeitia.  Rhos completed their scoring in the 85minute with substitute Geraint Williams breaking converting from a tight angle to put the game out of site.
Prestigne then scored what was nothing more than a consolation goal with Rob Salisbury unluckily turning the ball into his own net to the delight of the home support who had been constantly on Salisburys back thoughout the match, as they did not like his no messing attitude to playing.
Overall a good display again, Long may it continue.
10th Nov
Acrefair Youth
WNL
11-0
Nothing short of a brathtaking performance from start to finish from a dominant Rhos side now starting to take shape nicely.  Rhos took the lead through the very impressive Ion Azpeitia who was given his first start of the season after a late injury to Tom Smith.  Rhos then scored a second through Matty Holmes and extended their lead further with Tony Cann converting a penalty. Then come a strike fron Uni Moya from close range, Matty Holmes then scored two quick fire goals to complete his first half hat-trick with the third goal an unstoppable strike from outside the area.  HT 6-0
Rhos then changed things round with Rob Salisbury being withdrawn as a precaution after earlier taking a knock to his head, but the one way traffic continued and Matty Holmes scored his fourth goal of the afternoon in the 1st minute of the second interval.  Then Rhos waited until the last ten minutes to add further to their ever growing account with Azpeitia and Cann both scoring their second goals of the afternoon.  The tenth goal come through promising youngster Jamie Rodgers who tapped in from close range, and Cann completed the scoring to seal his hat-trick in the dying minutes.
11-0 is a great scoreline but the score could and should have been much more with both Steve Walters & Mike Williams guilty of glaring misses when it seamed easier to score.  (This last paragraph is added at the request almost everyone. Sorry lads!)
3rd Nov
Borras Park Albion
NEW
5-1
Rhos took the lead as early as the first minute from a brilliant free kick from TOM SMITH, from then on Borras couldn't cope with the front two of Rhos, Matty Holmes and Tony Cann, who are undoubtedly a formidable strike force.
Two excellent goals from TONY CANN saw Rhos take a three goal lead into half time.
The second half saw the first twenty minutes become a scrappy affair with both sides involved in a midfield struggle.
Borras didn't threaten the Rhos goal and every cross was handled with ease by Huw Rowlands in goal.
The game came back to life when a cross from the right saw TONY CANN complete his hat trick with a superb volley.
With the game won Rhos made three changes replacing Matty Holmes, Dyfan Williams and Steffyn Davies, on came Rob Williams, Darren Greenway and the impressive Ion Azpeitia.
It was disappointing not to come away with a clean sheet when needless penalty 5 minutes from time was given away.
A final flourish saw DARREN GREENWAY slot home the fifth to run out comfortable winners.
27th Oct
Llay Welfare
WNL
2-2
On reflection this was a good result, however Rhos controlled the game from start to finish.
Llay took the lead from poor marking in the box which gave the Llay player a free header.
Within ten minutes Llay took a two goal lead when a slip in the box resulted in a scramble with the ball finding it's way into the net.
H/T 0-2
In the second half Rhos were totally on top but couldn't create any chances, it wasn't until 15mins from time that Rhos got a goal, a free kick from Tom Smith saw the goalie fumble and ROB SALISBURY slotted the ball home for his first goal for the club.
Rhos were pushing hard for the equaliser, it came from ROB SALISBURY who once again pounced on a loose ball in the box.
2-2 against a good side, but, this is a game where Rhos could have had a comfortable win.
20th Oct
Conwy United
WT2
3-0
Excellent performance and a comfortable win for Aelwyd who overpowered a bright Conwy side with a commanding display.  Rhos took the game to the visitors immidiatly and probably should have already been two goals up before Thomas Smith broke the deadlock on 30 mins after the visiting keeper could only parry a long range effort from Mike Williams.  Rhos then doubled the advantage on 36mins with Tony Cann (Pictured) heading in from just outside the six yard box after a excelland delivery from a dead ball from Thomas Smith. Cann then scored his second of the afternoon on 43mins when he rounded the keeper and slotted into an empty net.  H/T 3-0
The second half was also controlled by Aelwyd though a special mention need to go to keeper Kevin Andrews who pulled off two excellent saves to keep a clean sheet.  Rhos could and probably should have extended the lead with both Mathew Holmes and Darren Greenway going close.
Overall in summary an excellent performance and hopefully Rhos have turned the corner in terms of the rub of the green with every little mistake being punished over the past few weeks.
The effort and desire to win in this current squad will certainly take some beating on this performance.
13th Oct
Penycae
LC
1-4
The scoreline suggests a comfortable win for Penycae, however, the game was dominated by Rhos in the first half, and with better quality shooting Rhos could have been three up. Penycae took the lead against the run of play when a long ball saw Eryl Roberts clear and take his goal well.
Rhos were still creating chances but the shots on goal were poor, Rhos equalised from a good move down the left to see MATTY HOLMES slot the ball home. H/T 1-1
The second half saw Penycae come into the game more and took the lead through Steven Brooke with a good header.
Poor marking from set pieces cost Rhos another two goals which put the game out of reach.
This was by no means a poor performance by the team, just poor marking in the box.
There was some excellent efforts from Nefyn and Stefyn, Mike Williams and Tom Smith, Tom went close on three occasions when he hit the crossbar from a free kick and also made the keeper make two excellent saves.
Obviously this was a disappointing result, but, the team is coming together and players need to stop "having a go" at each other, which is very disruptive.

6th Oct
Brickfield Rgrs
WNL
10-0
Very one sided match as the scoreline suggests against a very young Brickfield Rangers side.  Rhos almost fell behind in the early minutes but stand in keeper Huw Rowlands pulled off an excellent save to deny Brickfield.  Rhos then took the lead through Matty Holmes after some neat work down the left by Steffan Davies. Holmes then added another 2 to complete his hat trick and goals from Tony Cann and Thomas Smith ensured Rhos went in at the break five goals to the good.
Early in the second half Rhos made two substitutions taking off Nefyn Davies & the impressive Mike Williams and replacing them with two new signings Uni Moyau And Ion Azpeitia who are both spanish players studying at NEWI.  Within 20mins of both coming on they had between them scored four goals with Uni completing a debut hat-trick and Ion scoring arguably the best goal of the afternoon powering through the defence before placing the ball through the keepers legs with the outside of his boot.  Rhos completed the rout close to the end when Tony Cann scored his second of the afternoon by poking in an attempt on goal from captain Geraint Williams.
Overall a good confidence booster and with the recent new signings now intigrated into the squad things are without a doubt going in the right direction.
29th Sept
Llangollen Town
WNL
2-3
Rhos took the lead through a brilliant strike from 25 yards by TONY CANN, but from there on Rhos lost their way and couldn't produce any telling passes to the front players.
Llangollen equalised with a thunderous shot which gave keeper Andrews no chance. Rhos went 2-1 down when a loose ball hit the Llangollen forward to deflect into the net.
A brilliant Daniel Currie free kick saw them go 3-1 up, Rhos try as they might couldn't find the net, the Llangollen keeper made some outstanding saves, but failed to get any where near DAREEN GREENWAY's excellent header to make it 3-2.
Rhos must find some composure in the middle of the pitch to supply the forwards with the passes to get on the end of.
The fixture saw the debut of new signing Rob Salisbury who was excellent in defence and his constructive shouting was a motivation for other players around him.

22nd Sept
Llangollen Town
WT1
3-0
This Cup Tie got off to an explosive start with Rhos taking the lead and two Llangollen players sent off for violent conduct.
The first chance fell to Jack Jarvis who hit a brilliant volley from outside the box, the keeper just managed to push the ball over.
The Rhos goal came from new signing TONY CANN who finished superbly, it was Tony who got a punch in the nether regions that saw the Llangollen player sent off by Referee Mike Jones.
Within twenty minutes of the start another Llangollen player had an early bath for kicking a Rhos player in the head, (don't know what they had for breakfast, raw meat I think)
Rhos' second goal from MATTY HOLMES with some intelligent play, he dropped off and received the ball to go on and score with a great run which left their defence flat footed. H/T 2-0
With the game sewn up Rhos should have capitalised with the extra men, but with the Ref getting his cards out at every opportunity it was difficult to produce the tackles for fear of bookings or sending off. Rhos had all the game in the second but only managed to score one more when they could have had a bagful if they would have played some simple passes and like Steve said used the width of the pitch to create the space.
STEFFAN DAVIES scored the third Aelwyd goal when he ran through their defence and lobbed the keeper. Jamie Rogers went close when he hit the bar.
Overall a competent performance by the team with some good individual efforts, especially Darren Greenway in Midfield, a roll he is not used to, and with the two "nuggets" Jack Jarvis and Jamie Rogers improving every game the squad is coming together.
15th Sept
Overton
WNL
0-3
Rhos started the game well enough by pushing Overton on to the back foot but failed to capitalise on their chances.
Overton took the lead against the run of play when their forward was gifted an easy opportunity.
From there on Rhos were trying too hard to get the equalizer and lost their shape.
Rhos came out for the second half with more determination, but once again couldn't manage to play the final quality pass into the danger areas.
Overton grabbed a second which secured the game for them, and with Rhos desperately pushing to get something out of the game scored a third.
A poor performance by Rhos against a well organised Overton side, but, we are still finding our feet in the development of the side and we can learn a lot of lessons from this match.

1st Sept
Cefn United
WNL
3-3
With four changes in the side, which included two new signings, Rhos struggled to find their shape, especially at the back where defensive errors cost them dear. Against the run of play Cefn took the lead when a shot took a nasty bounce to go over Kevin Andrews in goal, however Rhos continued to dominate the game but lacked the final quality pass up front.
Cefn went 2-0 up when Rhos failed to clear the ball, the forward ran on to score with ease, yet another clear chance fell to Cefn on the stroke of half time, but this time the shot went wide.
The Aelwyd came out for the second half with more determination but still lacked penetration into the goal area to create any decent chances.
Once again a ball down the middle saw Cefn score with ease which should have put the game out of reach, however, Rhos pulled one back when finally a cross into the box was slotted home by MATTY HOLMES.
Rhos got their second from a penalty when Matty Holmes was fouled, which resulted in a Red card for the Cefn Defender, TOM SMITH took it brilliantly to make it 2-3. Rhos continued to press for the equaliser and got it 6 minutes into injury time through MATTY HOLMES with a typical centre forwards goal, a cross from the left, and put away with precision, 3-3
Overall a good comeback and great spirit, but a leaky defence needs plugging!!, but on the positive side Mike Williams looks an excellent signing with his no nonsense approach.
28th Aug

Apologies but no match report compiled, but Rhos took the lead in this Match through a Darren Greenway header and Keven Andrews put in an excellent display in Goal.
25th Aug
Coedpoeth Utd
WNL
0-0
Todays match saw the Aelwyd forced into a number of changes with influential player manager Steve Walter taking up a place on the bench with a slight injury and new signing Matty Holmes away on holiday.  Returning for Rhos were Karl Thomas and Dyfan Williams for their 1st games of the season.
The match was played in glorious sunshine and these conditions had a major factor in the game ending in a stalemate.  Rhos started rather sluggishly yet could and probably should have took the lead on the half hour mark with Thomas Smith getting behind the opposing defence with only the home keeper to beat only to get caught in two minds allowing a defender to make the tackle and clear the danger. Just before the interval Rhos lost Nefyn Davies with an injury, with a not quite 100% Steve Walters replacing him.
Rhos started the second half chasing the game and well on top looking for the win and nearly broke the deadlock on numerous occasions most notibly a far post header from Dyfan Williams just missing the target (Pictured).  The home side nearly snatched all point close to the death with the home striker finding himself one on one with Kev Andrews only for Kev to pull off an excellent save to keep the scores level.
In the end a disapointing result thet felt like a loss to the players but as management pointed out a lot of positives could be taken out of this performance and the point gained could prove vital come the end of season shake up as this Coedpoeth side will almost definatly take points off other sides throughout the long season.
21st Aug
Borras Park Alb.
WNL
3-1

Three close range goals secured this win against a good Borras side. Rhos opened the scoring after 10mins from Mark Jones, who was in a good position to slot the ball home. Borras equalised through a mix up in defence, the resulting free kick saw a big deflection which gave keeper Kevin Andrews no chance. The Aelwyd took a 2-1 lead into the interval when a good move down the right saw the ball fall to Matty Holmes who cooly scored.
The second half was dominated by Rhos, but they were unable to capitalize on the possession until 5 mins form the end when the impressive Phil Dodd scored from two yards with a well taken chance.
A very good performance in the first league game against a lively Borras side.
A good start for the new Management team who are working extremely hard  to improve the squads by signing quality players, such as Matty Holmes.

18th Aug
Halkyn United
WC
3-4
The Aelwyd started this Welsh Cup match rather tenatively against opponents from the Welsh Alliance league.  Halkyn took the lead in the 16th min from a penalty converted by James Quadrio.  This seemed to then spark Rhos into life and they began to exert lots of pressure on the Halkyn goal, Rhos were awarded for this pressure with the equaliser from debutant Matty Holmes with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
Rhos started the second half strongly and took the lead from the penalty spot through Thomas Smith.  The turning point in the match occured five minutes later when Rhos had a goal dis-allowed in strange circumstances with a Halkyn defender turning the ball into his own net only for the goal to be 'chalked' off for offside.  To add to Aelwyd woes Halkyn were shortly after awarded a second penalty with James Hatton penalised for a handball on the line,  James was sent from the field in this incident and the penalty was dispatched again by James Quadrio to level the scores.  Dispite being down to ten men Rhos pushed forward in search of victory and regained the lead shortly after through Darren Greenway after good work by Geraint Williams.
Howerer the lead did not last for long when Rhos Keeper Kevin Andrews harshly adjudged to have pushed an opposing forward allowing James Quadrio to complete his hat-trick of penalties.
The game now appeared to be heading for extra time Halkyn grabbed the winner in the last minute through substitute Darren Lee.
A disappointing result for the Aelwyd but there were many positives.  The new management team must have been impressed with the effort and commitment of all the players which bodes well for the remainder of the season.
