A change of system to start the new year saw Rhos play a 3-5-2 which they adapted to well and still tried to play good football on a poor playing surface.  Josh struck an excellent left shot for the 1st goal which seemed to give the team a lift and was quickly followed by a 2nd goal (Iolo).  Neat build up play saw the lads score plenty more goals including another Lloyd hat-trick and to round things off a strong midfield burst and finish from Dafydd. Throughout the team everyone looked solid and did good jobs in their "new" roles, which shows we can adapt our game if needed. Well done lads.

The boys did what was required of them today and that was just simply get into the next round.  With only 12 available players the boys did well on a bitterly cold Grango morning against a hard working, offside trap loving Park side.  Once we got to terms with the offside game (Taylor!!!), goals came at fairly regular intervals but we allowed Park back into it early in the 2nd half which was the only negative of the day as once again we have got to be more ruthless at times and kill teams off when we the chance. Bring on round 3!!

A bit of a mismatch in teams here with the scoreline suggesting that there was only one team in this game. From the start Rhos attacked and were going for goal. It wasn't long before Rhos notched their first goal through Josh Griffiths. There were many more goals to come and Rhos' football was much better this week than the previous week with the team being more vocal than last week.
If it wasn't for the Marchwiel keeper it could have been a lot more, but it was encouraging that the strike force got 12 goals between them. A big thank you to the two keepers (Taylor and Iolo). who went on to fill in Richard's absence.
The goalscorers for the day were Lloyd Marsden 6, Josh Griffiths 6, Taylor Jasper 3, Ryan Jones, Adam Peters and Dafydd Robertson.
A big game next week against Llay and it is important that we play OUR way of football.
Mold Juniors
League 24/11/07
1-3
Josh Griffiths
A big game with both teams unbeaten. Rhos started the brighter team and when a ball was put into the box it fell to Josh Griffiths who slotted the ball into the corner of the net and give Rhos the lead. The game became a bit scrappy afterwards but a great ball which was switched from left to right, found Lloyd, who chested the ball down and hit it, but it narrowly went wide. During the last 5 minutes of the half, Mold did put the pressure on and a dubious free kick decision was given on the edge of the box which Mold converted and in the process Richard Griffiths (goalkeeper) injured his back and had to come off. Half Time 1-1
During the second half Mold were the better team because they dictated how we played and not how the Rhos team have been trained to play. Their second was a through ball which was calmly put away by the Mold striker 2-1. Rhos were chasing the game but Mold still looked dangerous and it showed when their striker got the ball and hit it sweetly and ended up in the top corner, giving Dan no chance. Mold 3-1 Rhos.
Rhos Aelwyd will have to play better than that against good teams and if the three good chances that we missed in the first half would have been converted maybe this would have been a different game. The only positive to take from the game is that Mold have to play us at the Grango and I'm sure Rhos will be more up for the game.

Without a game for the last 4 weeks, it was always going to be interesting to see how the lads got back into it against a top of league Park side.  Answer: quality football from start to finish, with all 14 players contributing to an extremely pleasing team display.  Some of the build up play to the goals with one and two touch passes showed real class and composure and had it not been for some superb reflex saves from the visiting keeper there would have been even more.  Again lads, you have set the standard and need to hit it again in training and at Mold next week.  Well done boys and lets keep it going.
Brickfield (H)
League 20/10/07
6-1
Ryan Jones 2
Rob Salathiel,
Ifan Hughes,
Iolo Francis,
Lloyd Marsden

An important win today saw the boys go to the top of the table but they were pushed all the way by a never say die Brickie.  A good first half display saw Rhos take an early lead from Rob Salathiel, then inspired by a solid central midfield display from Dafydd Robertson and Ryan Jones, Rhos added 3 more goals. HT4-0.  But all credit to Brickfield, they came back at us strongly in the second half and maybe should have taken a few more of their chances, but Rhos managed to hold them off with 2 more goals from Ifan Hughes and MOTM Ryan Jones.  Now we've got that top spot lads, let's make sure we work even harder to keep hold of it!
Chirk (A)
League 13/10/07
12-0
Rob Salathiel 8,
Iolo Francis 2,
Daniel Gibbon,
Ryan Jones
This was a classic tale of a game of two halves.  Despite leading 2-0 at the break, Rhos were second best for most of the 1st half and after a poor performance were lucky not to be punished by a spirited Chirk side.  A very rare half time rollocking seemed to give the boys the kick up the backside they needed, as we went on to play (our way) with some good quality, high-tempo football, which saw us score 10 goals in the second half.  It was good too see such a positive response after a big half time dressing down but it just shows the importance of being "up" for every game.
Marford & Gresford (A)
League 29/09/07
8-1
Rob Salathiel 6, Josh Griffiths 2
This was billed as the top game in the section today, with both sides wanting to win. Unforunately for Marford and Gresford, Rhos Aelwyd were up for the game and from the first minute there looked like there was only one team in the game. The football played by Rhos Aelwyd was excellent and M&G had no reply. After 4 minutes Rob Salathiel fairly charged passed 4 players and hit the ball with some venom it took a deflection off an M&G player and looped over the keepers head. 5 more superb  goals were to come off Rob who was on unbelievable form today and the keeper had no chance to save any of them. Josh Griffiths got the other two excellent goals to make it 8-1 to Rhos.
This was the best performance this Rhos team have played and the team spirit and commitment was excellent off the lads. The difference today from any other match was that when we had scored a goal, we went for more instead of sitting back. It was an excellent display against one of our closest rivals. Well done to all of you.
Coedpoeth (H)
League 15/09/07
8-1
Lloyd Marsden 3, Rob Salathiel 2
Ryan Jones 2
Iolo Francis

A pleasing start to the new season, with the boys playing some good football at times.  After a tight first 10mins an inch perfect cross field pass from Lloyd on the right found Iolo down the left wing who went on to finish well.  The lads then stepped up the gears and scored 3 goals in 5 minutes to set us on our way and get the cobwebs out of our systems. A controlled performance followed which included two impressive debuts from hat-trick hero Lloyd and Ryan Jones, with one of his goals being a 30yrd screamer.  A good platform to start the season with and with continued hard work in training we will be even sharper in the weeks to come.
